Luang Phor Phet Wat Tha Thanon is a brass-tin alloy Mara Vichai Buddha in a diamond lotus position and enshrined at Tha Thanon Temple (This temple is behind Uttaradit Railway Station). Phraya Phichai Dabhak's Monument Located in front of the Town Hill of Uttaradit Province, built in honor of Phraya Phichai for his valor, bravely, patriotism and self-sacrifice. When as the ruler of Muang Phichai in Krung Thonburi era, when the Burmese attacked Muang Phichai, he marched his men to intercept the Burmese forces, defeated them and repelled them home. In that battle, one of his swords broke, but he gained victory over the Burmese forces. For he said deed, he was called "Phraya Pichai Dabhak". Wat Phra Boromthat Toongyang Located inside Muang Toongyang Phra Chedi is Ceylon style round. Mural painting in Phra Viharnis vevieved to have been draw in Ayutthaya period. Every year on Visakha Bucha day, imitating cremation festival for Buddha Dead Body will be hold. Wat Phrataen Silaasna Located at Tambon Thoonyang, Lab Lae District about 14 kms. from the province. The feature of Phrataen is a rectangular laterite stone with a width of 8 feet and a height of 3 inch, having accessory pattern evidencing of being Buddha Thron. It is assumed to have been built in Sukhothai period. On the full moon night of the 3rd month of every year there will be annual celebration festival. Wat Phranorn Buddhasaiyash Located on the slope of the hill of the opposite side of Wat Phrayuen Buddhabahtyukol. Inside the temple being the place where the Buddha has lied. Wat Phrayuen Buddhabahtyukol Is about 200 meters away from Wat Phrataen Silaasna. This is an ancient temple which has been in existence along with Wat Phrataen Silaasna and is located on the same hill. There is a story that Buddha has traveled here and stood on top of this hill to view toward different directions in vicinity, and he has made a wish so the footprints of his left and right feet have appeared on the same laterite base. There are lotus base supporting and a Mondhop covering the footprints. At the side of Mondhop there is remanat of leterits some which is the base of old pagoda having the shape like "Phum Khaobinh" shape of Sukhothai period. In the temple enshrines Buddha image called "Luang Phor Buddharangsri". Wat Phafang Located at Tambon Phajook,Muang District,20 kms. away from the province. In the past, this temple was the location of Sawangkhaburi or Fang Town, an old town in the days of the capital of Sukhothai. Among the ancient remains of the temple is Phra Mahathat Pagoda Muang Fang, a large old viharn; the shape of the viharn is rectangular; the front wall has a large door in the middle and the door is a very beautiful carved wooden one, presently maintained at Thammathippatai Temple in the province town of Uttaradit. Wat Chedi Kiriviharn Located at Tambon Failuang Lablae District. The Chedi is of Ceylon style which was built to cover the old chedi. Inside the Phra ubosot there is beautiful Sukhothai art Buddha image as presiding image. Wat Don Sak Located at Tambon Failuang Lablae District about 9 kms. away from the province. This temple was built toward the end of Ayutthaya being the capital period. It was delicately built with Chiangsaen and Sukhothai style architecture. The door of this viharn is made of wood fretwork in kanok picture having picture of Himmapran animal sporadically placed in several places with delicate and very beautiful postures. |
